Hello friends and welcome to another quick Mario Mayhem.com video! Today we are delving back into the seedy underbelly of game modification with the Game Genie as we tackle the 1984 NES classic Excitebike!
This old gem is a game where you ride motorcross bikes around a map and try to beat either player 2 or the other CPU racers. It’s almost like a precursor to Mario Kart, only 8 bit, no items and well none of the other chaos that comes with the Mario Kart series.
This game was actually designed and developed by Shigeru Miyamoto before Super Mario bros and they used the smooth side scrolling engine made for Excitebike later when they developed the first Super Mario Bros game, So you know it is going to be fun!
So without further ado, let’s see what kind of game hacking action we can muster for this much loved and much ported video game! On with the show!
Starting off we have the super handy code SXXTYUVV when you have this in place your bike will never over heat! This means you can hold down the B button and just cruise at high speeds as long as you want without the heat meter ever changing or moving at all! I still fell over a bit and ended up coming second in the race but our next code can maybe help a bit.

For this game genie clip we are going to look at 2 codes at the same time the first is YEXIKOYA which allows you to recover much faster after you crash! This makes life much easier if you have some mad spill and end up half a mile from your bike, your shuffle back to the race course is much more elegant now and you are back up and racing in no time. The second code in play here is PEXIEZLA and with this you will have less enemy or competitor bikes on the course when you play in game B mode. This does take a bit of the fun of racing out of the game but you also have less hazards and a higher chance of landing on the podium, well if you are a better player than I, so it is pretty handy!
The next two line code we will take a look at is EVUKGEAP + TESGPALA and it is super fun and also a bit frustrating! With this in place you will have mega turbo speed when just pressing the a button! This is crazy! I think you almost go a bit too fast for the game to register because you will be covering half the course with every jump but you also crash a lot because other characters are simply just too slow! Even with falling down a lot I still managed to easily place first on my first try, so if you have a need for speed, this is the game genie code for you!
Moving on, I had to try the fan discovered code EUVSEYEP which allows you to drive through other riders! No more crashing whenever you come in contact with enemy riders, now you can cruise through them without worrying about the dreaded tire touch and inevitable crash that comes with it. I should have used this with the previous code!
If you want to eliminate crashing all together you can use the code SZOSKTSP and it kind of works! Well, you can still semi crash but you never fall off your bike and have to run after it like a sissy. You just get the crash noise and you do a few cartwheels but it is definitely better than doing the thousand step race back to your discarded motorbike!
Normally you have to do 2 laps of the course to finish, but if you use the code ESOVOZEY you only have to do 1 round! So you better make it a good one! But ultimately it doesn’t matter because you are pretty much guaranteed to get first place and also shatter the existing record lap time! Those other suckers, look at them, doing 2 laps, good luck my friends, I’m going 1 lap pro!
Pulling wheelies is super fun in this game, but normally you can fall of pretty easy. Well if you enter the code SUUKKTVY you won’t have this problem! Now you can wheelie as far back as you want to without having to worry about falling off! It’s a neat little code and makes me feel like a big man, so I like it. You can still crash like normal, but I like to think that I win based on style points regardless.
I was curious to try the code ZAKSKIAA which claimed to make you Jump much higher! And I think it actually works pretty well! Especially once I got this technique down where you can kind of flick the back directional pad a little bit as you go over the jump! It’s pretty fun as before you know it you are soaring up and sometimes out of the screens field of view. Red bull motocross tournaments here I come!
The code AAUSOIZA is a pretty weird one but I had to include it in this video. When you use this code you simply stick to the ramps! This is the opposite of jumping high, you just cruise up and down the jumps without doing any jumps at all! I think this somehow made the game run faster as even though I fell off a few times I still somehow managed to come first in the race. It takes out a bit of the fun but it is still a sweet code!
The code EIKGOTEY is also a pretty handy fan discovered code. It is called “Instant Acceleration” which it actually delivers quite well! You seem to pretty much start zooming at top speed straight away and also drive faster than your opponents! Even with a few tumbles I still managed to crush the competition and the top race score! Well worth a try if you are going to speed run this game!
If you want to race on a super weird neon pink and green racing track then the code POSITL is definitely for you! Believe it or not, this crazy colourful track is actually the first race course, but with this code in place it whacks out all the colours. Pretty neat!
And finally I will leave you with the 2 line game genie code ZISKEZOL + AASKOZLA when you have this in place you can simply just press the start button to finish the race! That’s right, you can literally pause the game to win the game! You can even do it before the race even starts! I did notice however that sometimes despite beating the race in 1 second I still placed second, so I don’t know how that other racer beat me but oh well.
Anyway that’s it for today my friends! I do hope you enjoyed hacking Excitebike on the NES with me! If you did be sure to smash that like button, subscribe to Mario Mayhem if you are new, leave a comment down below and why not check out some of my other videos? You may just enjoy them too! I’ll catch you soon my friends!
